Staff

At Attenborough Church Pre-School our staff are highly qualified and experienced, and are required to regularly attend staff training meetings and update their continuous professional development through courses offered by Nottinghamshire County Council, the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Stronger Practice Hub, and the Early Years Alliance.

Debby - Pre-School Manager/SENDCO/DSL

I’ve been involved in Pre-School since my children started in 2003. I was a Committee Member and Chair before moving onto the Staff Team in 2005, when I undertook training and obtained my NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Childcare. I took on the role of Deputy Pre-School Manager for 4 years and became Pre-School Manager in the summer term of 2018. I love Pre-School, the community aspect and the lovely outdoor space and freedom of outdoor learning for our children to grow and explore before they leave to go to school. In 2023 I obtained my Level 5 National Professional Qualification in Early Years Leadership and Management.

Amanda - Deputy Pre-School Manager/SENDCO/DSL

I have a Level 3 Childcare qualification and have worked in childcare since leaving school. I have been at Pre-School since 2010 and have taken on the role of Deputy Pre-School Manager since 2018.  I enjoy watching the children grow and helping them to start to develop their skills for life. Also, no two days are the same when working with children!

Louise - Pre-School Early Years Teacher/ Relief Deputy Pre-School Manager/ DSL

I have an Education Studies degree and in 2019 completed the Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Early Years with Early Years Teacher Status. During my time at university I gained a lot of work experience in different schools, mainly working with children in KS2. After graduating I worked as a teaching assistant in a local primary school. I have worked in early years since 2016. I love working in early years, I personally find it one of the most rewarding age groups to work with. The best thing about working with children is watching their confidence, creativity and personalities grow and develop. No day is ever the same and the children constantly surprise you with the things they say and do.

Laura - Pre-School Early Years Teacher/ Financial Administration Manager

My experiences of working with young children began in 2008 when my first child was still a baby, and I took over the running of the Attenborough Baby and Toddler Group along with two friends. We ran the group for a year. All of my 3 children went to Attenborough Church Pre-School and had such a wonderful time that I was motivated to join the management committee and ultimately became the Chairperson of Pre-School for 2 years. I have been a member of staff since January 2016. I was a chartered accountant before taking a career break to have my children, but found working with children to be much more rewarding.  I re-trained and undertook a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education in Early Years at the University of Derby and gained a qualification as an Early Years Teacher in 2019.  I now mostly perform financial administrative tasks for pre-school, but still love being part of the pre-school team, and having the privilege to work with children.

Toshimi - Pre-School Practitioner

I joined Attenborough Church Pre-School in 2016, but I have been working in childcare since 2005. I have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education alongside a NCFE classroom assistant and British Sign Language qualifications. I work with children because I like to see their achievements as they grow and develop, and to smile with them every day. At Pre-School I particularly enjoy organising various cultural events for the children. I am also a staff committee member. I have 2 children and in my free time I enjoy cooking, walking and yoga.

Molly - Pre-School Practitioner

I realised I wanted to work with children whilst doing Heath and Social Care at school. I joined Pre-School in January 2018 as an apprentice. I have completed my Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in Early Years Education. I like to see and help the children to grow and develop.

Joelle - Pre-School Practitioner/Language Lead

I am Level 3 Qualified in Childcare Learning and Development. I also have a daughter. I absolutely love working with children, seeing and helping them grow, develop and become their own individual person. I joined Pre-School in October 2020 and I am loving being part of such a caring and dedicated team of people. I have taken on the role of Language Lead at Pre-School from Easter 2023, helping progress children's speech and communication skills, liaising with parents and outside agencies and working with children on a one-to-one basis or in small groups as needed.

Stephanie Pre-School Practitioner

I have worked in Early Years since I left school in 2004 and am really happy to have joined such a lovely team in November 2020. I have 3 boys and a daughter of my own who keep me busy in my free time.

Leigh-Anne Pre-School Practitioner

Hi I'm Leigh-Anne, I'm thrilled to be here at Attenborough Church Pre-School. I am a very lucky Mum to five daughters. I am a Level 3 qualified early years practitioner. I have run a parent and toddler stay and play group for nearly a decade. I have previous experience in a similar pack away pre-school setting. I am also a trained breastfeeding peer supporter. I also have experience of working with a young adult with disabilities. I love swimming, drawing, going on day trips and little adventures with my family and I love being able to spend time with young children and watch their amazing development.

Maisie - Pre-School Practitioner

I have been working in childcare for around 4 years and have my Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education. I joined Attenborough Church Pre-School at the end of March 2024 and it’s by far one of the most rewarding jobs I have had. You get to follow along with the children’s journeys from when they start at Pre-school to when they are ready for Reception and watch them grow into independent individuals. I enjoy to crochet in my spare time and spend time with my Springer Spaniel, Harley

Ishani -Pre-School Practitioner

My name is Ishani. I am originally from Sri Lanka. I have been working with early years children since 2001. I started as a Montessori teacher in Sri Lanka and gained UK qualifications from Nottingham College and Nottingham Trent University. I have experience in working with two primary schools in Nottingham as an early years Teaching Assistant, Nursery Practitioner in a Pre-school unit in a Day Nursery and currently working as an Afterschool Club Play-Worker alongside my role at Attenborough Church Pre-School.
As every child is unique, I have experience in working with SEND, EAL and children with multiple needs.
I am a very sensitive, empathetic, thoughtful, kind and friendly person who is always willing to help. I love to entertain, educate, and fulfil children's needs with love and care. My desire is to assist children to thrive and flourish in their full potential.

Rachael - Pre-School Practitioner

Hi, I'm Rachael. I have a level 3 qualification in Childcare and have been working in Early Years since 2010. I have worked in different settings in Ireland, Australia and England. I joined Attenborough Church Pre-School in January 2025 and I absolutely love it. I find working in Early Years incredibly fulfilling and I am passionate about helping children learn, grow and develop. I am a mum and have two young children who keep me busy in my spare time. I enjoy travelling and exploring new places with my family.

Laura - Pre-School Practitioner

I am currently working for the NHS within a special needs school as part of the complex health team, alongside working one day per week at Attenborough Church Pre-School. I have a degree in children’s and young people services and I have worked with children for over 20 years. I have 2 children of my own who both attended Pre-School and I am also the Fundraising Officer on the Pre-school Committee.

Abigail - Preschool Practitioner (Relief)

I grew up locally and attended Attenborough Church Pre-School with my sisters when I was younger, so it’s lovely to now be part of the team. I’m currently in my second year at university, training to become a primary school teacher, which I am really enjoying. In my spare time, I love walking my dog around my local nature reserve and enjoy spending time outdoors.

Hannah - Apprentice Pre-School Practitioner

I am doing my NVQ level 2 in Childcare and Education at the pre-school I attended when I was a child. In my spare time I attend Explorers, enjoy open water swimming and meeting up with my friends as well as taking the dog for a walk.
