I was born in South Africa and moved to the UK when I was 13 years old. I practised as a certified chartered accountant for 8 years in the UK, South Africa & the Caribbean - before joining the family tutoring business in Beeston, so that I could spend more time being a Mom. I have a son who joined the Pre-School in Sept 2020 and another recent addition! My son absolutely loves Pre-School, especially all the mud & outdoor play. As a fairly new Committee member, I am excited to support the Pre-School and be a part of their growth.
I joined the Committee as Treasurer in 2017 when my eldest son was at Pre-School to meet other parents and to support the amazing job the dedicated staff do in looking after the children, making sure they all enjoy their time at Pre-School and are prepared for the transition to school. I currently work part-time as a management accountant at Nottingham Trent University and prior to that was a commercial analyst at a manufacturing company.
I have recently joined the committee as secretary in June 2021 but I have been involved with the Pre-School since my twin girls attended in September 2017. My youngest son joined in September 2020. All my children have or are currently thoroughly enjoying their time at Pre-School and as a family we can not recommend the Pre-School and its staff highly enough.
Having experienced how great the Pre-School was for my older girls and in getting them `school ready`, I wanted to get more involved while my son was in attendance. I decided I could do this through joining the committee and got stuck in with summer fundraising straight away.
Currently I am a stay at home mum and support the running of my husbands heating business. I have a degree in biomedical sciences and a masters in social work. Prior to staying at home to care for my children I worked within social care supporting families and working with children.
I'm a mother of 2 boys and in my "spare" time teach at a local primary school! Both personally and professionally the Early Years Education system is dear to my heart. Fostering a love of learning at a young age shapes a child, its wonderful when you see a child grasp a new concept or skill for the first time. Growing up, I loved the opportunities I had to play in the outside environment and how my mum always kept my wellies by the back door so I could go and explore. I was drawn to sending my son to Attenborough Church Pre-School as it is evident that the outside area is key to the day to day running of the preschool. Having started during the pandemic I thought it would be a good opportunity to get to know the preschool family better by being part of the committee and am excited to share in this stage of early years education with my son.
I recently joined the committee, as my son joined preschool in September 2021. I wanted to Join the Committee to meet other parents and support our little one on his preschool journey. Since my little boy started preschool I have seen just how much he loves it and has thrived since being there. I am also mummy to a little girl.
I am currently working for the NHS within a special needs school as part of the complex health team. I have a degree in children’s young peoples service and I have worked with children for over 20 years.
I joined Attenborough Church Pre-School in 2016 but have been working in childcare since 2005. I have an NVQ Level 3 in early years qualification alongside an NCFE classroom assistant and British Sign Language qualifications. I work with children because I like to see their achievements as they grow and develop and to smile together with them every day. At Pre-School I particularly enjoy organising various cultural events for the children. I am also a committee member, I have 2 children and in my free time I enjoy cooking, walking and yoga.
I have been involved with Pre-School, in a Committee or employment role, in various positions, for 34 years and have recently retired.
I joined the committee to support Staff and Committee members and to keep my involvement with Pre-School after a big decision to retire.
I have 3 grown up sons and a grandson that keeps me on my toes!
